This research project was concerned with utilising the facilities provided by the ISO MHEG-5 (Multimedia and Hypermedia Experts Group) standard, intended for set-top box work, and extending the functionality of MHEG applications to allow real-time control over applications such as MATLAB and LabVIEW. The novelty and ultimate aim of the project was concerned with creating a ubiquitous environment capable of authoring these MHEG applications, and using this environment to link with and control external software such as the above.
